Paddlers support the berm opening

Aloha Honolulu DFM Director Albano,

As a member of a canoe club that paddles in Kailua, I support monthly, tide-timed openings of the sand berm separating Kaelepulu Channel from Kailua Bay.

Timing the openings with the tides so that the channel stays open for several days is essential. It will greatly improve water quality, creating cleaner, safer conditions for paddlers in both the channel and the bay.

By restoring the natural flow between Kaelepulu and the ocean, we can improve the health of these waters and ensure a better paddling environment for our community.
