Fishermen support berm openings

As a fisher in Kailua waters, I strongly support monthly, tide-timed openings of the sand berm between Kaelepulu Channel and Kailua Bay.

Timed openings that stay open for several days are crucial for improving water quality, restoring natural flow, and allowing Kaelepulu to serve as a nursery for Ama`ama, Awa, and other game fish as part of their natural life cycle, just as they did decades ago when Kailua's waters were rich with fish, crabs, and oysters.

This simple step can help bring vitality back to our waters and respect Kailua’s natural heritage.
