I support monthly berm openings

I’ve made my home in Kailua, and the health of our waters is deeply important to me. I support monthly openings of the sand berm that separates Kaelepulu Channel from Kailua Bay.

These openings need to be timed with the tides so the channel can stay open for several days. This simple action would make a big difference — improving water quality, letting fish return to Kaelepulu as part of their natural cycle, and helping to bring back the abundance of fish, crabs, and oysters that once filled these waters generations ago.

I want to see our waters thriving again, not just for today, but for the future of our ʻāina. Let’s take care of this place we love.
